Marine biodiversity

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Importance of conserving marine biodiversity was one of the topics highlighted by experts and scientists at a seminar on biodiversity organised by the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute in the city on Tuesday.

With the ocean covering 71 per cent of the earth's surface, marine biodiversity was important for sustained development of mankind, they said. According to them, the Indian coastline supports almost 30 per cent of the human population who are dependent on the rich exploitable coastal and marine resources.
