Injured whale let into sea
Ramanathapuram: An injured whale was saved and let it into sea at Rameswaram on Friday.
Forest officials identified the marine animal as a sperm whale.
The live whale drifted ashore due to injury when some pilgrims were taking bath in shallow areas of `Agnitheerthakadarkari.'
Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park officials led by S. Arasappan, Ranger of Mandapam, reached the site and inspected the injury. As it was small, they decided to let it into the sea.
